Abstract

The dynamic Young’s modulus is studied by the impulse excitation technique (IET) on ZrB2-based composites containing MoSi2 as a secondary phase up to 1700 K under a continuous flow of Ar (5% H2). The Young’s modulus of the composites shows three different decreasing rates, the first two of which are very similar to the temperature trend of the constituent phases. At 1700 K, the Young’s modulus of the composites is still more than 75% of the room temperature value.
