Abstract
The effect of particles on texture banding in a roping prone aluminium alloy was investigated by comparing two different intermediate annealing (IA) treatments. The initial (pre-IA) material contained a high density of small (size < 1 μm) particles, which resulted in significant Zener-drag during one IA treatment but had negligible effect in the other. The differing effect of particles during IA significantly impacted texture banding differences in the final annealed materials.
