Abstract

The theory of nucleation has been employed to derive expressions for the formation of an Fe2Al5 layer during commercial strip galvanizing. This is then used to show the effect of the strip entry temperature on the nucleation of the Fe2Al5 layer. An attempt was also made to verify this effect through controlled experiments in a hot-dip galvanizing simulator and electron microscopic characterization of a few samples.
