Abstract
This study aims to develop a new mathematical model for laser transmission welding (LTW) of a commonly used polymer (polyethylene) in lap geometry considering the effect of the clamping pressure on weld geometry and thermal profile. The results predicted by the model have been validated against selected experimental data obtained from microstructural investigation and mechanical property testing.
