Abstract

This paper reports the enhanced dielectric and piezoelectric properties in CeO2-modified [(Na0.5K0.5)0.94Li0.06]0.5Bi4.5Ti4O15 (MBT) polycrystalline ceramics. The Ce modification greatly improves the piezoelectric activity of MBT ceramics and significantly decreases the dielectric dissipation. The piezoelectric coefficient d33 for the 0.50 wt.% CeO2-modified MBT is found to be 28 pC N−1, the highest value for the reported ordinarily firing bismuth layer-structured ferroelectric ceramics. The dielectric spectroscopy shows that the Curie temperature for all the MBT ceramics is higher than 620 °C.
