Abstract
Friction stir-processing (FSP) was utilized to successfully disperse and embed nitinol particles in Al 1100 matrix. Directional residual stresses were introduced in the prepared material that consequently showed improved mechanical properties as found experimentally and through modeled results. No harmful interfacial products could be found in the material as a consequence of processing. The current work highlights the preparation and properties of this composite.
