Abstract
The low-frequency damping properties of near-stoichiometric Ni2MnGa shape memory alloys were investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis. Ni2MnGa alloys can possess good inherent internal friction under isothermal conditions over a wide temperature range from −100 to 100 °C without deterioration after thermal cycling. Ni2MnGa alloys with higher martensitic transformation temperatures are candidates for high damping applications since they can possess good inherent internal friction above room temperature.
