Abstract
An investigation of cross-section deformation heterogeneities resulting from equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) of a cube-oriented nickel single crystal – extruded through a squared section die – has been carried out. It is demonstrated that, even for a given initial single crystal orientation, strong differences in crystal orientation evolution and associated deformation patterns can develop locally. In particular, a significant heterogeneity prevailing along the transverse direction of the billet is reported for the first time.
