Abstract
Ti(C0.7N0.3)–xWC–20Ni systems were studied to investigate the effect of WC particle size on the microstructure and rim composition of the systems. Variations in the content and particle size of the added WC had a negligible influence on changes in the phase and microstructure of the Ti(C0.7N0.3)–xWC–20Ni system, sintered at 1510 °C for 1 h. Based on the rim composition in the Ti(C0.7N0.3)–xWC–20Ni system, the particle size of the added WC appears to play a role in determining the composition of the rims.
