Abstract
Recent application of Fe-28Mn-6Si-5Cr (mass%) alloy as pipe joints in civil engineering constructions has required efficient production of these joints. Centrifugal cast materials have shown better shape recoveries than rolled materials. Crystallographic investigation showed this shape memory effect enhancement was due to a characteristic ã0Â 0Â 1ã columnar structure extended along the radial direction of joints. Theoretical estimation of shape recovery strain revealed the ideal microstructure made by centrifugal casting and the limitations of shape recovery strain as well.
