Abstract
Joints of Mg alloys and Al alloys were produced by the laser-TIG hybrid welding process with Ce as an interlayer. Cracks did not occur in the most critical region with Ce as the interlayer, while they did in its absence. The Ce distributed uniformly in the most critical regions where the major composition changed from Mg to Al.
