Abstract
Bulk (Ce–La–Pr–Nd)65Co25Al10 metallic glass with critical diameter of 15 mm and high mechanical strength was developed. The addition of multi-lanthanide metals with diverse electron configurations and similar atomic sizes induced a sharply decreased liquidus temperature and remarkably improved glass-forming ability of (Ce–La–Pr–Nd)65Co25Al10 compared with single-lanthanide metal-based alloys, e.g. La65Co25Al10 and Ce65Co25Al10.
