Abstract
White light emitting Zinc oxide–Silicon dioxide nanocomposite synthesized by sol-gel combustion method shows an intense photoluminescence, at the excitation wavelengths of near ultraviolet (404 nm) and could be useful for potential white light emitting diode (LED) applications. LED excitation (465 nm) shows similar electroluminescent spectrum of commercial white LED. Commission International de 1’Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity colour coordinates of 404 nm and 465 nm LED pumped white and bluish white emission shows (0.304, 0.308) and (0.216, 0.143), respectively, for an optimum composition.
