Abstract
The effect of alloying on phase transformation temperatures and occurrence of magnetoplasticity in Ni–Mn–Ga–X (X = Si, In, Co, Fe) alloys is investigated. The applied alloying has a strong effect on the transition temperatures and crystal structure of martensite. A 3.5% magnetoplastic shear strain at 333 K is achieved in a single crystalline Ni–Mn–Ga–Fe alloy.
