Abstract
Spinodal decomposition in a Co-rich binder phase of a Ti(C, N)–WC–Co cermet has been studied. Thermodynamic calculations of the Co–W system predict a miscibility gap between a paramagnetic and a ferromagnetic face-centred cubic-phase at the Curie temperature. For the first time these predictions were confirmed with atom probe measurements of the binder phase.
