Abstract
The deformation and fracture toughness of Ni–P coatings were studied using the indentation method and notched film tensile sample, respectively. Circular shear bands formed around the indent and the plastic zone size increased linearly with the square root of the applied load. The fracture toughness decreased with increasing annealing temperature.
