Abstract
The failure mechanism of superalloy TMS-75 after thermo-mechanical cycling was studied with the aid of microstructural investigation. Twinning is an important deformation mechanism during the cycling. The twin plates tend to create microcracks on the surface of the specimen. Propagation of a crack along the twin plates results in material rupture.
