Abstract
A new approach to analyze the ultrasonic signal using the birefringence effect for texture analysis has been attempted for determining major texture components in copper and stainless steel in annealed and cold-rolled conditions. Results of ultrasonic signal analysis have been compared with the texture studied by conventional X-ray diffraction technique. It has been found that the spectrum analysis of windowed ultrasonic signal can be a non-destructive tool to determine the major texture components in deformed materials.
