Abstract
A recent study [B.C. Menzel, R.H. Dauskardt, Scripta Mater. 55 (2006) 601] concluded that an error in the stress-concentration factor employed in the notched specimens could be utilized to explain the large difference in the fatigue-endurance limits of a bulk metallic glass between notched cylindrical bars and four-point-bend beam samples. However, after the careful observation of the facture surfaces by the scanning-electronic microscopy, we believe that the authors' analysis may not explain the difference in results.
