Abstract
Increased understanding of the strain localization process in aluminum foam is achieved via a dual camera data acquisition system, used to observe adjacent specimen faces. Details of compacting shear band formation are discussed, in relation to the specimen stress–strain response. Theoretical localization predictions, using a bifurcation approach, are in accordance with experimental observations.
