Abstract
A new heat treatment procedure for rheo-diecast AZ91D Mg-alloy, denoted as Tx, has been developed for achieving optimised combination of strength and ductility. Samples were heated at a temperature close to the solvus for a short exposure time to break-up the brittle β-Mg17Al12 network. In addition, Tx incurs lower heat treatment costs compared with the existing heat treatments.
