Abstract
Electron backscattered diffraction reveals the dependence of deformation twinning on grain orientation and distinct grain rotations during compression of high manganese steels. This leads to the evolution of a special microstructure and restricts the kinetics of twinning in comparison with tension deformation. The macrotexture exhibits twin relationships among texture components, produced by twinning at low strain.
