Abstract
The anomalous sudden stress growth upon unloading observed in Cu–Al–Ni single crystals has been related to the burst character of the reversion to the parent phase of the γ′ martensite highly stabilised by deformation in compression mode. The excess driving force existing in these specimens has been estimated.
