Abstract
An annealed Mo–Si–B alloy containing coarse Mo + Mo5SiB2 + Mo3Si phases was remelted by Nd:YAG laser in argon. The uniform and fine microstructure of laser-remelted alloy was observed, which possessed the same constituent phases as annealed Mo–Si–B alloy. Due to a continuous B–SiO2 layer formed on the surface of laser-remelted alloy in the early stage of oxidation, it has better oxidation resistance than annealed alloy at 1000 and 1200 °C.
