Abstract
The structural, dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.59Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–0.31PbTiO3–0.10Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3 (0.59PMN–0.31PT–0.10PFN) ceramic have been investigated. The investigations show that its phase structure is near the morphotropic phase boundary, and excellent electrical properties are obtained with this composition. Compared with PMN–PT, studies also show that 10% PFN substitution results in (i) a decreased sintered temperature; (ii) an increased Curie temperature and peculiar relaxation behavior; and (iii) a low dielectric loss, which indicates that the novel ternary system deserves further exploration.
