Abstract
We measured the viscosity of recently-developed metallic glasses with low glass transition temperatures by parallel plate rheometry and found that for certain temperatures the viscosity of Ce68Cu20Al10Nb2, Au49Ag5.5Pd2.3Cu26.9Si16.3 and Mg58Cu30.5Y11.5 is similar to that of selected grades of low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, polycarbonate and polystyrene. Therefore, as demonstrated using samples processed by high-pressure torsion, co-processing at these temperatures will allow the mixing of metallic glass and polymer for the preparation of composites.
