Abstract
Cyclic-oxidation-induced rumpling of platinum-modified diffusion nickel aluminide coatings on a typical second-generation superalloy is strongly dependent on temperature above 1100 °C with little or no rumpling occurring at lower temperatures. There is also a dependence on the dwell time per cycle. For a given cumulative exposure at the oxidation temperature, shorter cycles result in a greater roughening than longer cycles.
