Abstract
An explicit solution for describing the shielding effects arising from a screw dislocation near an elliptically blunted crack is presented. This is a general solution which may degenerate to the solutions of a finite crack and an infinite crack, and may apply for a dislocation either emitted from the crack surface or originating elsewhere and for a dislocation located anywhere around the crack tip. Based on the solution, the effects of the morphology of the blunt crack and the position of the dislocation on the shielding are examined.
