Abstract
The growth behavior of ζ crystals in galvannealed coatings seems to depend on the crystal orientation of the α-Fe grains in interstitial free steel substrate. The presence of (1 1 1)–(1 1 3)–(3 1 3) planes at the top of the substrate promotes the formation of ζ crystals with lower growth rate. On the other hand, ζ crystals with high growth rate are formed on (0 0 1)–(1 0 1) planes of substrate steel.
