Abstract
The effect of a new Al–4Ti–5B master alloy on the grain refinement of AZ31 magnesium alloy has been investigated. It is shown that grain refinement can be accomplished readily. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis and theoretical calculations show that TiB2 particles act as the heterogeneous nuclei.
