Abstract
Radical bubble motion in the mushy zone during solidification of transparent material was observed. Often, bubbles jump at great speeds, from location to location towards higher temperature regions in the mushy zone. This type of radical bubble motion may also affect the final distribution and size of pores in a solidifying casting.
