Abstract
This work reports grain boundary engineering (GBE) in 316 steel. During the first processing iterations the proportion of Σ3 decreased, but in the final iteration both the Σ3 and Σ9 fraction increased. The results discuss the mechanisms and importance of iterative processing in GBE, and the role of Σ9 boundaries.
