Abstract
Automated serial sectioning is a flexible, low-cost technique for rapidly obtaining three-dimensional (3-D) microstructural data in a wide variety of materials. Advantages over previous manual methods are highlighted, and case studies are used to demonstrate the power of the technique for 3-D characterization and the generation of microstructural data for modeling.
