Abstract
NiCrAl–Al oxidation resistant coatings on nickel foams were for the first time prepared by electrophoretic co-deposition with a simple consolidation treatment. NiCrAl–Al coated nickel foams showed much more satisfactory oxidation and bending resistance than NiCrAl coated and bare nickel foams. This might be attributed to the compact composite coatings after both deposition and thermal treatment. The Al addition could ensure the formation of continuous and thick α-Al2O3 layers on the surface and inhibit the diffusion of Cr into the substrate during oxidation.
