Abstract

Self-assembly of cadmium salt and long V-shaped 4,4′-sulfonyldibenzoic acid (H2SDBA) ligand affords a three-dimensional (3D) metal-organic framework [Cd(SDBA)(H2O)] (1) (SDBA = 4,4′-sulfonyldibenzoate). Its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and further characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectrum, X-ray powder diffraction and TG analysis. Compound 1 is a (3,6)-connected rutile network of (4·62)2(42·610·83) topology and exhibits an unusual twofold interpenetrating rutile framework. To the best of our knowledge, the 3D coordination polymer has not been reported in {M/SDBA} (M = transition metal) system prior to this work. Furthermore, the luminescent property of 1 was studied.
