Abstract

Two new homochiral cadmium(II) coordination polymers, Cd2(bipy)2(H2O)2 (cam)2 (1) and Cd2(phen)2(cam)2·eg (2), where bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, H2cam = (1R, 3S)-(+)-camphoric acid, and eg = ethylene glycol, have been synthesized by a dual-ligand approach. Compound 1 possesses a chain-like architecture and compound 2 has a layered structure with a (4,4) grid topology. Both compounds crystallize in the space group C2 and exhibit intense photoluminescence upon photoexcitation at 280 and 300 nm, respectively.

The thermal stabilities and photoluminescent properties of the two compounds have been described along with their crystal structures.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
