Abstract
The first praseodymium fluoride borate Pr4B3O10F could be synthesized via high-pressure/high-temperature synthesis (multianvil technique). The crystal structure is exclusively built up from isolated BO3-groups. One of the boron atoms is located on a split position, leading to a BO3-group, that can be oriented in the crystal structure in two different ways. This is interpreted as a special case of an intermediate state between a BO3-group and a BO4-tetrahedron.
