N-Acetyl-4-acetamidosalicylhydrazide (H3aamshz) reacts with Mn(OAc)2·4H2O to form an 18-membered metallamacrocyclic hexamanganese compound [Mn(aamshz)(H2O)]6·12DMF (1) (DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide) with strong hydrogen bonds between neighboring units to form a 3-dimensional supramolecule. The compound crystallizes in the rhombohedral, space group R-3 with cell parameters a = 32.2867(16), c = 11.3109(6) Å, V = 10211.2(9) Å3, Z = 3. And it was subjected to variable-temperature magnetic properties because of the building blocks containing MnIII ions. The results show that the value of μeff at 300 K (μeff = 12.10 μB) is close to the expected value for six non-interacting MnIII with spin S = 2.
