Abstract
► A three-stage Stirling pulse tube cryocooler operates around 5 K. ► Four primary operating parameters are theoretically and experimentally investigated. ► The influences on the regenerator, pulse tube and inertance tube are further revealed. ► An effective method for increasing the cooling performance is proposed.
