For the coming years, a significant development of electric mobility as well as renewable energies is expected. A large number of electric vehicles and a large amount of renewable energies means a high burden to the distribution grid and its components. On the other side, if controlled properly they can likewise act as a “functional storage” and operate on the energy markets or help to relive the grid. The Research Center for Energy Economics developed a tool to simulate the effects of photovoltaic-systems, electric vehicles and home storage systems on the grid. This paper addresses how these systems will affect the load and feed-in from low-voltage grids and shows the amount of energy which can be shifted by the corresponding operation modes.
