Abstract

The hydrogen-enriched gasoline engine is a promising option for future spark-ignited (SI) engines. However, the lack of quasi-dimensional combustion models for hydrogen-gasoline blends restrains the efficient prediction of its performance for varying operating conditions and hydrogen enrichment strategies. In this paper, a quasi-dimensional model was developed and validated for hydrogen-enriched gasoline engines with a new laminar flame speed expression. Correspondence between the calculated and experimentally measured engine combustion parameters was observed for different hydrogen addition levels. The comparison results indicated that the proposed quasi-dimensional model is suitable for engine performance prediction of hydrogen-enriched gasoline engines.
