Abstract
In this paper, a comprehensive computational fluid dynamics model was built to study the heat transfer of coal in the Heat-Carrier-Free Regenerative Rotating Bed (HRRB). In comparison to the experimental data in the pilot scale HRRB, the model gave a satisfied prediction and was further extended to study the flow field and temperature distribution in the industrial HRRB. The effect of heating conditions on the temperature distribution of coal was also obtained. The results indicated a promising way to improve the output of upgraded coal in the industrial HRRB.
