Abstract
The integration of increasingly large amount of wind power into power grids can pose a challenge to power system planning and operation, as different configurations can result in different requirements for system control, protection, and management. This paper presents the framework developed to investigate how the offshore grid connections in the Baltic Sea might develop by year 2030. The purpose of this work is to serve as a guideline for future power system planning within the region. The methodology, assumptions, the conceptual design of the grids as well as the initial results are presented.
