Abstract
This paper proposed a novel perturb and observe (P&O) method to track the maximum power point (MPP) of photovoltaic system without oscillating around it using stateflow as its control tool. The state flow approach was used to study the influence of variable and rapidly changing in irradiance and temperature conditions concerning the performance of the photovoltaic system. The simulation results were presented to validate that the improved (P&O) approach has better steady state performance than the traditional one under various conditions which improves the efficiency of the PV system. The algorithm structure was built using MATLAB Simulink software.
