Abstract
The steam pyrolysis of Dimethyl formamide (DMF) was studied in a tubular flow reactor at atmospheric pressure. The experimental data were obtained in a temperature range of 500 - 1100° C for different flow rates and steam to amide mol ratios. The reaction products were analyzed by using gas chromatography (GC/TCD) and high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC/RI). The experimental data was analyzed by using a power law model to estimate apparent rate constant and corresponding activation energy. A reaction network model is also developed to include reaction mechanism of steam pyrolysis.
