Abstract
► WC shows good wettability and moderate reactivity with the Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 melt. ► The final wettability exhibits slightly anomalous dependence on temperature. ► The interfacial reaction yields ZrC, W and W5Zr3 phases. ► The primary driving force for the wetting is the formation of the precursor film in front of the triple line.
