Abstract
► GdVO4:Eu3+ powders were hydrothermally synthesized in a wide pH range. ► GdVO4:Eu3+ formed as a single phase at pH < 13. ► Morphological transformation of GdVO4:Eu3+ occurred by altering the pH. ► Luminescence properties of GdVO4:Eu3+ were significantly influenced by morphology. ► Octahedron- and rod-like GdVO4:Eu3+ crystals present the strongest luminescence.
