Abstract
⺠The extract of Punica granatum (PG) and their main constituent (ellagic acid (EA)) are found to be good inhibitors for the corrosion of mild steel in 1 M H2SO4 and 2 M HCl. ⺠The electrochemical inhibitive mechanism is explained by potentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results. ⺠The adsorption of ALLOX on mild steel surface was found to accord with the Temkin adsorption isotherm. ⺠The effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior of mild steel in 2 M HCl and 1 M H2SO4 without and with the PG extract was studied.
