Abstract
⺠Stability analysis of five geometries of AlX (X = P, As and Sb) nanowires studied. ⺠Square shaped geometry of AlX nanowires is most stable. ⺠Linear and zigzag shaped AlP nanowires are semiconducting. ⺠Bulk moduli of all the linear nanowires are lower than their bulk counterpart. ⺠Lower bulk moduli defends the softening of material.
