Abstract

Multiferroic 0.7BiFeO3-0.3BaTiO3/BiY2Fe5O12 (BFO-BT/BYIG) composites were synthesized via the conventional solid-sate route. The BFO-BT and BYIG phases can exist individually in the composites without any secondary phase. The magnetization and remnant polarization can be simultaneously improved by the introduction of proper amount of BYIG. For the 0.95(BFO-BT)–0.05BYIG composite, the Ms value is much higher than that of the pure BFO-BT and the Pr value is slightly higher than that of the pure BFO-BT. The dielectric relaxation of the 0.7BiFeO3-0.3BaTiO3/BiY2Fe5O12 composites was also investigated by the impedance analysis.

► The magnetization and remnant polarization of 0.7BiFeO3-0.3BaTiO3 can be simultaneously improved. ► To elucidate the role of BiY2Fe5O12 on the resistivity, the impedance of the composites has been analyzed. ► The dielectric relaxation of the 0.7BiFeO3-0.3BaTiO3/BiY2Fe5O12 composites has been investigated.
